Poor Elizabeth looks blind because there is no white reflection in her eyes. Compare the two photos (above and below) and see if you think the little white reflection helps her see. It is such a small detail but it always helps a face. Of course, Elizabeth's eyes aren't very big; in an even bigger face, the white reflection becomes even more important.
In many needlepoint faces, there isn't room in the eye for a whole stitch of white; if there isn't room, simply overstitch and small line and watch the eyes of your figure come to life.
As I said, it is such a small detail but it is so important!
