 Short study lengths of Honiton lace.

Fold one or two in Victoria's Study Box

#4-2

#4-1 A pretty length likely from a dress, of abstract roses, daisies and tulips.

Condition is good.

10" long x 5 1/2" deep.

$ 12.50 includes shipping.

#4-2 A pretty sampler of abstrack flowers and leaves.

I'm guessing some were

roses: look for the round

shapes along the border and

through the center.

Condition is good.

6 1/2" long x 5 1/2" deep.

$11.50 includes shipping.

Very Close to Free

Considering that shipping costs me as much or more than the prices of most of these little pieces, many are essentially free or $1.00 to $3.00 each.

So why am I selling them this way? I am eager to put into the hands of needleworkers some historical little pieces for study. My hope is that you will fall in love with them and pursue a new interest for a bygone era.

And as you look at them, remember,  it has taken someone in the time of Queen Victoria an amazing number of hours to make even the smallest piece of Honiton lace.

I am hoping they will go to good homes.

#4-3

#4-3 A high quality sample of Honiton, look at the detail on the flowers and leaves, and the care with which the brides were made. If I had to choose one from this page, this would be way up there as a choice.

Condition is good.

6 1/2" long x 3 1/2" deep.

$ 11.50 includes shipping.

#4-4 Compare this with #4-3 and you will see how much sparser and simpler this pattern is. Mind you this is a fine snippet and a good one for comparisons.

Condition: 2 or 3 breaks in the brides.

9" long x 2 1/2" deep.

$ 10.50 includes shipping.

#4-6

#4-6 A very small piece, not in wonderful condition, but if you look carefully, you will see the Thistle (on the right edge), the Shamrocks and the Rose.

A snippet I thought worth saving.

5" long at widest point x 3" deep.

$ 7.50 includes shipping.

#4-10

#4-7 A very nice snippet of Honiton with lots of detail.

Notice the raised heart-shaped leaves.

Condition is fairly good, with one or two holes in the top band.

7 1/2" long x 2 1/4" deep.

$ 9.75 includes shipping.

#4-8 A pleasing design well-executed on this small snippet, a pleasing mixture of textures.

Condition of the lace is good; the top band has become partially detached and could be removed completely.

6 1/2" long x 2" deep.

$ 9.75 includes shipping.

#4-9 Compare this one with the two above: this one is a much simpler design and lacking in the details.

Condition: several breaks in the brides but not disfiguring.

6" long x 1 1/2" deep.

$ 8.75 includes shipping.

#4-10  A tiny snippet not in the best repair, but useful for compiling a collection of patterns and variations in the quality of workmanship. I always find it helpful in studying lace to have samples of excellence and then some not quite so excellent.

Condition: several breaks in the brides but not disfiguring.

3 1/2" long x 2" deep.

$ 7.50 includes shipping.

#4-12 This is the sample I displayed on Queendom Website's home page and on facebook.

Geniunely a fragment of Honiton, but look at it closely and you will see two Roses, a Thistle and some Shamrocks.

Because these are likely related to a celebration of Victoria, I have included them in the sale, even though their condition is not good.
