Dowager in the Evening

Dowager in the Evening: Description

I loved stitching Dowager in the Evening in homage to Maggie Smith's Dowager Countess and since I sewed the last bead in place, it has been my favorite of all my geometrics.. I'm sorry the photo doesn't show the sparkle of all of the Kreinik braid, beads, pearls and  jewels.

I was incredibly lucky to find many of the beads, most noteworthy the center vintage glass flower held in place by a pearl and the 16 large vintage glass diamond montees (glass set in metal). These montees are likely from the era of the Dowager and are very difficult to find in the large quantity I needed.  It was simply good luck and they provided the inspiration for the project.

In addition to 6 colors of Soie d'Alger and 9 spools of Kreinik braid, the design has 75 varied beads,  40 pearls, 54 bugle beads and 146 seed beads counted and measured into 9 tiny baggies.

The design is about 7.5" by 7.25" white congress cloth 12" x 12". The design includes traditional needlepoint patterns along with a small amount of surface stitchery. The beading is dense and precise.

The instructions are 28 pages plus 4 Oversize Graphs, a title page and a color copy of my Dowager Geometric.
