From Gay Ann: the carving on these Canton pieces is incredible -- as an example, look at the photo of the dragon's head on the lower left.

From Gay Ann:  We modern stitchers have done such a good job of repurposing stilettos from  'hole punchers' to laying tools, and wouldn't this one make an elegant laying tool. Very nice that the point is so smooth.

From Gay Ann: Tortoiseshell needlework tools are alwaysso elegant, here iis one displaying thee patterns of the shell, showing off the differences in the two sides.

From Gay Ann: Look at this gorgeous French design, trending toward Art Nouveau! Art Nouveau designs, among my favorite. I'm such a Nouveau/Deco person!

From Gay Ann: Hallmarked 1901, look carefully at the design: it's not Art Nouveau per se, but interesting that it shows the influences of the style of Nouveau. Interesting indeed.

From Gay Ann: For Jane Austen fans, here is a beautiful ornately-carved stiletto, a great example of the style of needlework tools from the era of Jane Austen.  As I am sure many of you know, Jane Austen was an excellent needlewoman.

PERFECT FOR JANE AUSTEN FANS

PERFECT FOR JANE AUSTEN FANS

From Gay Ann: In Jane Austen's time, pins were precious, each one handmade and stored carefully on elegant pincushions. Here is a perfect example of a Regency pincushion such as Jane Austen well might have used.

From Gay Ann: Rosewood is my favorite wood, and here it shows why I love it.  Look at the colors! The simple turning on the needle case shows off the grain of the wood so well. Beautiful nedle case, great price too.
