From Gay Ann: we modern stitchers are clever: we have repurposed stilettos from the past into modern laying tools and here is a perfect little Jane Austen one, even with a hole at the top so you can make a fob for it! A favorite!

From Gay Ann: A small Acorn shaped tape measure, another perfect little item for Jane Austen fans. Just look at the detail! And even some of the original tape survived for 200 years.

Amazing!

This is a small souvenir from a trip to Brighton, England's wonderful seaside town. 200 years ago, a woman might have traveled to Brigton and bought this little souvenir for a friend. That woman could have even been Jane Austen, maybe a present for her sister? Aww, such tales to tell, even if imaginary.

I love these stylish scissors, simple lines with a lovely little ornate silver sheath. If they are left for sale, I will likely buy them. I love the contrasts of ornate and simple.

I collect Madras work (designs with small black deorations, in this case circles.  I have a very similar one or this one would have been mine. Hope it finds a Madras Loving Home -- a nice companion for my Jane Austen Needle Book.

Much folklore believes that jailed  French Prisoners from the Napoleonic wars carved these delicate little sewing tools and sold them. No doubt they were very popular items with yesteryear's needlewomen and this is such a pretty little needle book  with a great relation to Pride and Prejudice (remember the military's Mr. Wickham?)

The pattern on this Needle Case is so elegant, a basketweave pattern carved in ivory, and amazing that it survived well (true of all these pieces for well over 100 years, in this case almost 200.

A beautiful little thimble case with a Georgian silver thimble inside, a perfect age for Jane Austen fans. Look at the detail on the case, all those tiny little details -- amazing it survived.
