Dressing Elizabeth

How I kept myself occupied during the first months of the Pandemic. I wanted a challenge and I chose this.

Dressing Elizabeth

I had been toying with the idea of a design that was an abstract of an Elizabethan Dress this is the project that emerged.

The original hasl cutwork in all the five ecru squares; this one has imitation cutwork -- it looks like cutwork but it is all stitched and nary a pair of scissors near it except for snipping thread ends.

My original thought was to write the instructions for both the cutwork and the imitation cutwork, but I soon realized it would take me about 60 pages of instructions to describe each step of the cutwork and most people these days prefer the imitation cutwork these days anyway.

I made the cutwork because I wanted the challenge.

Will I ever sell the kit?

As of January 2022 I have not written the instructions. I have drawn the oversize graphs, something I do as I stitch the design because I can't go back and reconstruct them. Drawing the oversize graphs is an insurance policy in case I ever do want to write the instructions.

We'll see.
